FAQ.
Answers to the most common questions about the app, lap tracking, and the portal.
Do I need special scanners?
No. QR LapScan uses smartphones you already have. The app turns them into ready-to-use scanners for the course. You don't need to buy any additional hardware.
Does QR LapScan work offline?
While counting laps, scans are stored directly on the smartphone, so a permanent connection at the scan point isn't required. Features that talk directly to the portal, such as instantly assigning a QR code to a runner, do need a connection.
Which QR codes can I use?
QR codes can be printed on wristbands, bibs or cards, pre-made or produced yourself. What matters is sufficient size, good contrast and short content, so they still scan reliably while runners are moving.
Is QR LapScan already usable in production?
QR LapScan is currently in its pilot phase. The app and demo can already be tested. The event area itself is currently being prepared together with the first pilot events.
Can I import participants?
Yes, that's planned for the portal. Participants can be entered individually or imported via CSV, then assigned to prepared QR codes.
What happens to demo data?
The demo works exclusively with fictional runners. Your test entries and scans are automatically and completely deleted after about 30 minutes of inactivity.
Does every helper need their own account?
No. For normal scanning duty, the set-up app is enough without a personal account. Only access to the event portal, for example for preparation, requires an account.
